Meet Helena Marshall, a new starter at MediaCom in Sydney and a member of our 2021 NextGen Leaders cohort.
Five months into her role, Helena saw the program as an opportunity to increase her knowledge and understanding of the industry so she can set herself up for a long-term career in media.
Growing up, Helena found it impossible to not be immersed in the cultural landscape crafted by the media industry, making her and MediaCom a natural fit.
Her favourite part of the job so far? The pride felt when seeing advertisements that her team has placed out in the wild.
What are you hoping to get from the NextGen Leaders program?
I hope to learn as much as I can from all the amazing speakers and the coursework provided. Anything that adds to my knowledge and understanding of this industry is super helpful, because there is just so much that goes into everything we do. I will never look at an advertisement the same after working in this job and completing this programme.
What has surprised you about the program or WPP most, if anything?
I’ve been most surprised at the scope of the program. It’s great to be in calls with people from all over the world and hear their experiences, perspective and interests – especially since we’ve been unable to travel due to the pandemic. It’s nice to feel a sense of connection to people across the world through a shared experience.
