Wavemaker, GroupM’s newest media, content and technology agency, has appointed Maria Poulton to the newly created role of General Manager of its Brisbane office, following significant growth over the past 12 months.
Poulton was most recently Business & Operations Director of Mindshare Japan and has been part of the Mindshare family since 2004, spending nine years in Mindshare Sydney working across a variety of sectors and key accounts, including Kellogg, Kimberly Clark, Diageo, HSBC, ING Direct, Tourism New Zealand, Boehringer, American Express and Group SEB. She brings extensive experience in brand and direct response marketing.
In addition, Poulton was vocal in supporting young talent in the industry, launching and co-chairing both NGen and MFA 5+.
After successfully launching Booking.com in Australia, Poulton moved to the UK in 2013 to run Booking.com globally, overseeing €100mil+ in billings across four regions. Her dedication and strong client relationships saw her move across to Mindshare Japan, where she secured multiple new business wins and ran operations for the company.
Wavemaker Brisbane Managing Director Jane Sullivan said: “Maria is incredibly talented, hard-working and client-focused and I am excited to welcome her to the team in this important role, particularly during this exciting chapter as we relaunch the business to Wavemaker.
“The past four years have been an incredible journey of growth for WM Brisbane and our success is testament to an incredible group of passionate and talented people working in true partnership with our clients.”
Maria Poulton added: “I’m thrilled not only to be back in Australia, but to be joining Wavemaker during a period of positive growth. The agency has established itself as a key player within the Brisbane media scene and I’m looking forward to working closely with Jane to help our clients achieve even greater results.”
